NFL Gamecock Roundup: Jeanpierre Comes Back and Cook Isn't Leaving
/-The Seattle Seahawks re-signed Lemuel Jeanpierre after having cut him prior to the season. The Seahawks' underperforming and banged-up offensive line could use a veteran body like Jeanpierre's, and given that he made starts for the team at both guard and center last season, he'll be an immediate plug-n-play addition to the team. Jeanpierre was originally released due to further injury concerns, but his familiarity with the playbook, schemes and other players make him a great addition mid-season.
- St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher laid to rest any rumors of Jared Cook being on the trade block. While Cook, second on the team in both receptions and receiving yards, is indeed catching interest from other teams, Fisher was adamant about Cook's place on the team.
“We take calls all of the time,” Fisher told reporters on Tuesday. “People call. People have injuries. People have interest. That happens all of the time. I have no interest in trading Jared. He’s a big part of our offense.”
For Cook's part, he's choosing to ignore anything until he hears something concrete. “The Rams didn’t call me,” he said. “My agent didn’t call me. So what is there to worry about? Why am I letting somebody get in my head about something that’s nonexistent?”
- After a stressful fourth quarter capped off the Minnesota Vikings' 16-10 win over the Kansas City Chiefs, Captain Munnerlyn joked a bit about the "stress" over having to play defense with just two minutes to go.
“I don’t like finishing like that,” Munnerlyn said. “They had the ball in their hand at the end of the game and still had a chance to win the game. I’m already going bald, and that stressed me out a little bit more.”
Fortunately, Munnerlyn and his crew in the secondary forced four straight incompletions from Alex Smith, and the Vikings got their third win of the season.
