NFL Gamecock Roundup: Taylor Makes the Most of Monday Night

- From the Corrections and Omissions desk: in yesterday's report I neglected to mention that punter Spencer Lanning has not only found a new home with the Chicago Bears, but also played on Sunday, punting three times with a 45.3 yard average. Lanning spent time with the Bears as an undrafted rookie, ultimately getting cut in the preseason in favor of Adam Podlesh. Lanning is just a temporary fill-in for the injured Pat O'Donnell, but as always, work tends to lead to more work.

- It should also be noted that Stephon Gilmore had an interception against the Giants on Sunday, something I did not notice when looking at the stats. I blame this on wearing sunglasses indoors, but hey, I can't help being this cool all the time.

- In last night's Monday Night Football game between the Detroit Lions and the Seattle Seahawks, Devin Taylor was able to make a huge impact, even with the return of starter Ziggy Ansah. Taylor had three tackles, got in on a sack, and had two big hits on Russell Wilson. Taylor has made the most of this brief opportunity to be on the starting line, and is making a genuine improvement.

- While Jacksonville Jaguars guard A.J. Cann was responsible for the only sack the team gave up on Sunday, head coach Gus Bradley was very impressed by Cann's overall performance. "I thought A.J. did a nice job," Bradley told ESPN. "There were a few mistakes, which are going to happen, but overall the strength and his toughness that we thought he would bring he really showed."

- Offensive lineman Ronald Patrick is, perhaps not surprisingly, back on an NFL roster, having signed with the Cleveland Browns. Patrick is the fourth different Gamecock to have joined the Browns in the past two years, as the team currently has the injured quarterback Connor Shaw, and had previously played host to the aforementioned Spencer Lanning and defensive lineman Kelcy Quarles.
