NFL Gamecock Roundup: Culliver, Jeffery Questionable for Sunday

-CBS Sports has an article up that lists the best and worst free agent signing of the offseason, and Darian Stewart ranks in the better half. At two years, $4.25 million, with just $2.25 million guaranteed, Stewart has been one of the best finds for an already-dangerous Broncos secondary. Stewart is ranked as the fourth-best safety in the league by's advanced statistics, and is number one in coverage. Stewart currently has 20 tackles, an interception, and a forced fumble this season.

-Chris Culliver missed practice on Wednesday to undergo an MRI, putting his status for Sunday into serious doubt. Culliver played through the pain this past Sunday, but was nowhere near as effective as usual. With Julio Jones and the Atlanta Falcons facing the Washington Redskins this week, a healthy Culliver is virtually a necessity, especially with DeAngelo Hall also out for the game.

-The Chicago Bears are openly hopeful that Alshon Jeffery will finally be healthy once again for this Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. While the always-staid head coach John Fox didn't go overboard in emphasizing Jeffery's importance to the team, he did make it plain that Jeffery would remain the number one receiver on the team upon his return. "You're talking about a quality wide receiver in the league," Fox said. "Any time you're missing a guy who is, quote, a starter, there's a reason he's a starter.
