NFL Roundup: Big day for several former Gamecock defenders
/Atlanta Falcons 39, Dallas Cowboys 28
Patrick DiMarco caught just one pass on one target for four yards. DiMarco certainly did his job as a blocker though, helping Devonta Freeman reach 141 yards and three touchdowns for the day. DiMarco currently sits at two catches for 23 yards this season.
Cincinnati Bengals 28, Baltimore Ravens 24
Indianapolis Colts 35, Tennessee Titans 33
Ryan Succop was 2 of 2 on field goals and 3 of 3 on extra point attempts in the game. Both field goals were his first two attempts of the season, and he's been 11 of 11 on extra point tries.
Jacksonville Jaguars 17, New England Patriots 51
New Orleans Saints 22, Carolina Panthers 27
Oakland Raiders 27, Cleveland Browns 20
Philadelphia Eagles 24, New York Jets 17
Pittsburgh Steelers 12, St. Louis Rams 6
- Jared Cook had a down week, with just one catch for seven yards on three targets. Cook has eleven catches for 139 yards this season, but is still looking for that elusive first touchdown.
San Diego Chargers 14, Minnesota Vikings 31
One Gamecock in this contest showed up to play, and it was Melvin Ingram. Ingram had seven total tackles, with six solo and one for a loss, plus a pass deflection and a big hit on Teddy Bridgewater. The other USC player, Captain Munnerlyn, had just one tackle to his name.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 9, Houston Texans 19
Of the three Gamecocks in this contest, Johnathan Joseph ended up with the honors as top dog, with just three tackles, but an astounding five pass deflections. Watching it with my own eyes, ol' JoJo was a key factor in causing a rough day for Jameis Winston. D.J. Swearinger and Jadeveon Clowney also played well, with D.J. racking up six total tackles, and Clowney having two tackles and a QB hit.
San Francisco 49ers 7, Arizona Cardinals 47
Bruce Ellington ended up being inactive again for yesterday's game, but Mike Davis managed to make a few appearances. Unfortunately, they were very similar to the 49ers overall performance against the Cards, as Davis rushed for just 6 yards on seven carries, and had one catch for 5 yards. At least he didn't throw two pick-sixes like his quarterback.
Buffalo Bills 41, Miami Dolphins 14
Stephon Gilmore had a quiet day, with just one tackle to his name.
Chicago Bears 0, Seattle Seahawks 26
Alshon Jeffery was inactive for the game, but his team really could've used him, as Jimmy Clausen had just 63 yards of passing from scrimmage. Chicago probably needs a lot more players like Alshon to make a difference, though.
Denver Broncos 24, Detroit Lions 12
Darian Stewart was all over the field again for the Broncos, with eight total tackles, and six coming solo. Stewart has been having a tremendous year so far for the Broncos, but it took until this week for Devin Taylor to make a big difference for the Lions. Taylor had the Lions' lone sack in the game, and can now officially brag that he sacked Peyton Manning once. Taylor also had two tackles, and two additional QB hits.
